Allison seems to have spent most of her life in art schools, either as a student or a tutor. She has a BA in Fine Art from Wolverhampton University, An MA in printmaking at Camberwell and a PHD on contemporary drawing practice at the University of Gloucester.

She has taught painting and printmaking at all levels, finally as Course Leader for the BA in Fine Art at Hereford College of art.

She has been exploring ideas around the Mari Lwyd for some time and most recently has become fascinated by the connection between the Welsh landscape and the stories that make up the Mabinogian. These stories, however fantastical, all take place in the real landscape of Wales. The small paintings have developed out of a series of walks that Allison is making in Wales.
